Talent Management

Enhanced education & learning.

The Employer / Educated Household Staff relationship is based on mutual respect in exchange for providing a professional teaching and childcare service.

Providing your Educated Household Staff with fulfilling positions within your homes, estates and on superyachts will have a ripple effect onto your children and onto your Households.

At Educated Households, we strive for happy Household personnel, working with happy children, within a happy family environment. For the sake of a long-term and harmonious placement, needless to say that outstanding household staff, who are valuable assets within your Households, are used to being respectfully dealt with by discerning employers. Educated Households’ clients have quality education at heart, and as such, usually endow their full-time educated staff with a quiet space and top facilities for our educators to prepare for the lessons that will get delivered to your children to the best of their abilities.

At Educated Households, with an early lead time in mind, our forward-thinking clients are very aware that the more educated their staff are, the more their educated personnel will ultimately and positively impact their children’s school & university results, thereby providing their children with the tools to get into the most coveted private schools and boarding schools in the U.K., in the U.S. and around the globe.

Providing your staff with a clear job description that you are prepared to hold on to, from the onset, is important both to yourselves and to your Household staff. Should you decide on reviewing your Household educated staff’s roles within your homes, this should openly be discussed with your employees beforehand. Indeed, your Household staff do rely on the outcome of their initial interviews, your job descriptions and contents of their employment contracts to get an informed insight as to what their positions are going to be like. Performing and over-achieving quality household staff are those who get employed for their sets of skills, talent and expertise, whereby they feel very comfortable with. Premium talent management is absolute crucial for parents and parties who want to retain oustanding staff, be it wthin a private Household or in a multinational company. Happy teaching Household staff are employees who will wholeheartedly commit to their positions and who will display longevity in their roles which will undoubtedly benefit thriving children.

At times, you may have issues bothering you in this two-way relationship. When it comes to disciplinary matters regarding the children, your residential tutors, teachers, governesses & governors may need to feel supported by the parents for this partnership to fully work.  At any stage, what can appear as difficulties and misunderstandings in the employer / educated staff partnership may easily be resolved by discussing the matter in question with your educated tutors, governesses, butlers or estate managers in a constructive way. Talking things through is a powerful tool for both parties and the best way forward.

Alongside their dedication to their work, your educated Household staff also have their own private lives, commitments and aspirations. It is common practice and only fair to allow your deserving educated staff to be considered for growth in their roles & in their careers and thus it is common practice to make arrangements for your educated staff’s salaries to reflect their loyalty and expertise.

Our Tutors & Educated Nannies

We expect our educated tutors, governesses & nannies to be utterly respectful of the households they are put forward to. All the Household staff that we put forward are very well educated, much sought after, properly qualified and experienced. Our staff often hold an up-to-date first-aid certificate, have an enhanced DBS check and may hold a driving license. On top of the above, by taking out a Public Liability Insurance cover and having a first-aid certificate, London-based educated staff in particular will demonstrate potential parents-employers that they do act as childcare professionals placing high value on the children they care for.

Public Liability Insurance for Nannies - U.K. (Please, check if the information below is applicable to the country / countries you are applying to)

Public Liability Insurance covers nannies when they come to work at the employer's premises (injury, damage, legal fees etc.). It is crucial that nannies are correctly protected by their insurance covers. By this, we strongly advise all nannies to take out Public Liability Insurance covering them when they have children in their care, whilst in the parents' home, on trips to shops, or to the park etc. This insurance cover can be put in place by paying a small annual fee to a reputable insurance company. Most employers are happy to pay or contribute towards this premium on behalf of their nannies. We strongly advise nannies to check with their insurance advisors to get this insurance cover, which is different from Employers' Public Liability Insurance that employers must take out by law (the latter is indeed compulsory for employers). DBS - Disclosure and Barring Service for educated nannies, maternity nurses tutors, governesses & any household staff...

The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) was set up in 2012 and carries out the functions formaly undertaken by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). This is essential for parents wishing to employ any Household staff. At Educated Households, all professional tutors, teachers, governesses, butlers, close protection staff & educated Household staff should have an enhanced DBS check as they work with vulnerable parties such as children. In order to find out more, please visit: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/disclosure-and-barring-service.

First-Aid Certificate for maternity nurses, educated nannies, governesses & governors

We insist that our educated nannies hold first-aid and/or paediatric certificates.

There are locally-run courses by:

The British Red Cross: https://www.redcross.org.uk/first-aid/book-a-first-aid-course
St. John's Ambulance: http://www.sja.org.uk/sja/training-courses/first-aid-courses/search-for-training-courses.aspx.

Driving Licence / Motor Insurance for Nannies

London-based nannies may be required to do school runs. So, confident educated nanny-drivers are in great demand in London even though some families do not require nannies to drive or/and would provide chauffeurs. If your employer gives you access to their vehicles, please ensure that you are correctly insured for business use. Please, check with your insurance companies and with your employers' insurance companies.
